UW-Madison’s Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is upgrading all FP&M computers running Windows 10 to Windows 11.
What to do the day of your upgrade
IMPORTANT: Your PC must be powered ON by 5 pm and left ON overnight to be upgraded.
Before 5pm on the day of your upgrade, please do the following:
- Ensure your computer is connected to the internet (on campus or at home if you work remotely).
- Save all work (any unsaved work will be lost during the upgrade process).
- Restart your computer.
- Leave your computer on overnight to upgrade.

- Employees at 45 North Charter Street will be upgraded September 16.

On-site support after your upgrade
Starting the day after the upgrade, DoIT will be on-site to assist with any issues that came up during your computer’s upgrade. You can access support:

- Tuesday, August 27 – 7 am-noon in Conference Room 420 on the fourth floor of 30 North Mills.
- Wednesday, August 28 – 7:30 am-10 am in Conference Room 308 on the third floor at 30 North Mills.
- Thursday, August 29 – 7 am-11 am in Conference Room 420- on the fourth floor of 30 North Mills.
