Hazardous Material

Description:

This module covers standards that relate to the use of hazardous materials. Module topics include flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases, LP-gases, and cryogenic liquids. Related processes such as spraying, dipping and use of electrical equipment in hazardous locations are also discussed. Upon module completion participants will have the ability to assess compliance with regulations, determine hazardous (classified) locations, and proper moving, storing, and handling of hazardous materials.

Description:

Description:

This module details a variety of different ways to avoid the hazards of tool use, avoid exposing workers to electrical contact, and instructs learners on how to identify safe work practices for the use of tools. Forklift Safety

Description:

The content in this module is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements. Objectives for this module are to define the operator requirements for powered industrial trucks, distinguish several types of powered industrial trucks, recognize some general engineering principles associated with powered industrial truck safety, distinguish potential occupational health and safety concerns associated with the use and maintenance of powered industrial trucks, describe safe loading and unloading methods, identify general inspection and maintenance procedures. The classroom portion of this module is followed by hands on instruction and operation of a powered industrial truck as part of the certification process.

Audience

This module is designed for personnel who work with or around a powered industrial truck (a.k.a. forklift) used to carry, push, pull, lift, stack, or tier materials. It will better familiarize the worker with the potential health and safety concerns associated with powered industrial trucks.

Focus Four Hazards of Construction

Description:

This module provides an overview of construction related struck by and caught in between hazards, fall protection and basic electrical safety. Falls, struck-by, caught in or stuck between and/or electrical hazards are the top 4 fatality causing events in the workplace. Description:

The purpose of this module is to help participants identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in their environment, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care. Fall Protection

Description:

Module topics include principles of fall arrest, restraint and positioning (ARP) to prevent the occurrence of a fall. Instruction includes selection of the applicable fall prevention or protection components; limitations of fall arrest and prevention systems and the regulations regarding fall protection. Participate in demonstrating the inspection and use of fall protection equipment including the procedure to implement a fall prevention, protection and/or rescue plan for assigned activities.

Excavation and Soil Mechanics

Description:

This module covers the safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching. Course topics include practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and un-shored slopes and walls of excavations, introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic), soil classification, and use of protective systems. Testing methods are demonstrated and participants participate in workshops in the use of instruments such as penetrometers, torvane shears, and engineering rods. Upon course completion participants will have the ability to assess the associated hazards and utilize soil testing methods to classify soil types, determine protective systems for excavation operations and training requirements.

Evacuation and Emergency Planning

Description:

This module covers OSHA requirements for emergency action and fire protection plans. Module topics include purpose and requirements of emergency action and fire prevention plans, elements of emergency evacuation plans, and features of design and maintenance of emergency exit routes. Participants will participate in workshops pertaining to the development of emergency action plans. Upon module completion participants will have the ability to implement an emergency action plan, recognize violations of OSHA exit route requirements, determine whether their department requires an emergency action plan; implement workplace emergency action and fire protection plans.

Electrical Protective Equipment

Description:

Electrical Protective Equipment is designed to isolate an employee from energized systems, equipment and/or machines. It has specific intended uses and must be issued, worn and maintained while in service by employees with electrical responsibilities. Confined Space Entry

Description:

Module topics include recognition of confined space hazards, identification of permit and non-permit required confined spaces, use of instrumentation to evaluate atmospheric hazards, ventilation techniques, development and implementation of a confined space program, proper signage, and training requirements. This module features workshops on permit entry classification, instrumentation, and program development. Upon module completion, participants will have the ability to identify permit and non-permit required confined spaces, reference the OSHA Permit-Required Confined Spaces Standard, conduct atmospheric testing, and implement a permit-required confined space program.

Boiler Operation Safety

Description:

This module provides the basic knowledge to safely operate and maintain boiler systems. Instruction includes the fundamentals of boiler operation and maintenance. Covers steam, feed water, fuel, and draft systems. Includes boiler water treatment and hot water heating systems. Introduces safe mechanical operating procedures used in the industry. Objectives: Understand the basic concepts of steam, hot water, feed water, fuel, and draft systems. Understand the basic boiler cycle and boiler water chemistry. Blood Borne Pathogens

Description:

The module teaches how blood borne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material. This module is one of the requirements of the OSHA Blood borne Pathogens Standard. After taking this module, students should talk with their employer about their workplace’s specific policies and procedures.

Asbestos Awareness

Description:

This training consists of information regarding asbestos and its various uses and forms. Training also includes information on the health effects associated with asbestos exposure. This module includes available information concerning the locations of thermal systems insulation and surfacing ACM/PACM, and asbestos containing flooring material, or flooring material where the absence of asbestos has not yet been certified; and instruction in recognition of damage, deterioration, and delamination of ACM.

Audience

Required and very important instruction for employees whose work activities may contact asbestos containing material (ACM) or presumed asbestos-containing material (PACM) but do not disturb the ACM or PACM during their work activities.

Aerial Lifts

Description:

To qualify operators in the safe operation of aerial lifts. Trainees will receive instruction on aerial lift equipment. This program is not make or model specific and covers concepts common to all types of aerial lifts. Each trainee’s knowledge and demonstrated skills in all aspects of the program are evaluated prior to full qualification.

AED/CPR

Description:

This module focuses on sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, airway obstruction, CPR, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Program content is based on the American Heart Association Guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency cardiac care (ECC).

Audience

For non-professional responders required to have CPR and AED knowledge or for those who simply want to help in an emergency, the CPR and AED for the workplace program teaches the skills to respond in a cardiac emergency.
