FP&M supports UW–Madison’s mission through planning, building, operating, safeguarding, and maintaining the physical environment of the university; providing transportation services to faculty, staff, students, and visitors; leading environmental health and safety in support of academic programs; and partnering to integrate research, education and practice in sustainability across the campus.

A fully calibrated and coordinated system
FP&M will improve efficiencies, synergies and collaboration. With a retooled capital project delivery system, the quality and speed of our building delivery program will improve from inception to turnover. Investments in technology, technical expertise and communications will increase efficiency, transparency and collaboration, both within FP&M and with our customers.
Sustainable integration
FP&M will incorporate each facet of sustainability into facilities, whether it’s transforming the way campus uses energy, integrating sustainable principles into design or improving public health and wellness.

Laying the Foundation
To execute the future built environment of UW–Madison and support campus needs, FP&M requires its own strong foundation. We anticipate that achieving our future state will be a multi-year effort. Our first year focuses on staffing, programs, processes and training, to build toward success in the long term. To ensure honest evaluation and agile realignment, we will implement using the following cycle.
