Craig Mayer, Director for Operations and Maintenance at Physical Plant, to retire

Craig Mayer

After nearly six years with FP&M, Craig Mayer, the Director for Operations and Maintenance within Physical Plant, has announced his retirement. His last day will be Aug. 9, 2024. Craig leaves behind a strong foundation of success, according to Jim Bogan, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Physical Plant.

“I would like to personally recognize and thank Craig for patiently and persistently sticking to time-honored principles underlying success in facilities management,” Jim said. “Craig has been a great teacher and evangelist for all of us, myself included. We would not have achieved the level of success Physical Plant has over the last few years without his leadership and influence.”

The hiring process for the position is currently underway. Plans to appoint an interim person in this role are developing.

Please join us in wishing Craig well in his retirement, which will include more time with family, especially his grandchildren.

“Serving alongside the Operations & Maintenance team has been a rewarding and humbling experience,” Craig said. “The dedication, talent, and professionalism on display 24/7/365 is amazing. I am proud of the progress we have made with the asset management and readiness initiatives. I am excited for the future as you continue to proactively explore and implement improvements that will benefit the university and the campus community. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, but also realize I will miss working with such a great team.”
