Ben Nerad has joined FP&M as the new Director of Capital Program Administration, effective Monday, May 19. Ginny Routhe, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Capital Project Delivery, announced the hire, noting that Ben’s proven track record made him an ideal fit for the role.

“Ben brings nearly two decades of public-sector financial leadership to this role, with experience managing capital budgets and multi-year capital plans that closely mirror the scale and complexity of our own,” said Ginny Routhe, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Capital Project Delivery. “His background makes him exceptionally well-prepared to support our work and advance FP&M’s strategic priorities.”
In this new director role, Ben oversees the administrative side of capital projects, including contract reviews, project tracking, reporting, budgeting, payments and contract closeout. This includes preparing quarterly reports on active projects and leading the development of UW–Madison’s biennial Capital Development Plan. He also manages and oversees contractual and regulatory responsibilities, and is responsible for tracking reports and updates to leadership.
Ben’s resumé includes key roles as Bureau Director of the State of Wisconsin’s Medicaid Program, managing federal projects for UW-Madison’s Institute for Research on Poverty, a Fellow with the Dakota County (Minnesota) Department of Health & Human Services and Policy Director with the Wisconsin State Assembly. Most recently, Ben served as the Policy Advisor & Budget Officer for the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District.
An alumnus of UW-Madison, Ben earned his Master’s in Public Affairs and Social Work, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy.
