Does Workday look different to you?

If you opened Workday and saw that something changed but weren’t sure what it was — you’d be right!  Workday’s Fall 2025 release went live on Saturday, Sept. 20. Some items have an updated look, with the same features. New items that will appear for all Workday users include:

  • The Global Navigation Menu is now a pinned sidebar
  • There are new Quick Action buttons
  • There is a new Save icon

Read, print and distribute the following memo for more information about the release. It is available in:

English  |  Español / Spanish  |  བོད་སྐད / Tibetan Hmoob / Hmong  |  中文 / Chinese  |  नेपाली  / Nepali

What do I need to do?

No action is necessary. Training resources remain available for you and your team as you continue to adjust to Workday. Read the memo for more information!

Why the changes?

Workday is cloud-based. This offers convenience, and also means that the Workday software on your webpage will update automatically, without the need for you to install anything. Several aspects of the appearance and layout that shows up on your webpage will change the next time you log in to Workday or refresh the page.

Since several items look different, employees may need to take the time to re-orient in this new experience.

Workday will push out updates every 6 months to enhance the software. Managers and staff should pay close attention to communications in the spring and fall each year to prepared for what changes may impact them.

Workday is new and all are still getting used to it. This internal post serves as a reminder to FP&M staff of an additional change, during what has already been an adjustment period!  Going forward, employees are encouraged to watch for campus emails and keep an eye on Working at UW which will notify all of future Workday enhancements and updates.

Rest assured, if there are any larger changes in the future, FP&M Human Resources and Finance teams will provide training sessions or more specialized messaging for FP&M staff.

What is Workday?
