Technology can make us incredibly productive or incredibly frustrated. When it comes to workplace technology, are you curious, clueless, frustrated, or ready to level up and try something new? Or maybe all of the above? There are options for you at FP&M wherever you are starting from.

Join upcoming events this year! You can learn a variety of technology skills from peers or online, explore productivity boosters, find digital literacy resources, get more efficient using your calendar in Outlook, visit open computer labs or an AssetWorks Help Desk, use LinkedIn to connect or recruit, and know how to handle professional development travel expenses. Northstar Digital Literacy Assessments & Online Tutorials (English & Spanish)

WHEN: Anytime!

WHAT: self-paced assessments and video tutorials to learn basic digital literacy skills (basic computer skills, internet basics, using email, Word Basics, Excel Basics, Powerpoint Basics, Google docs, Social Media, Information Literacy)
WHO: free for FP&M employees
HOW:

  1. Visit www.digitalliteracyassessment.org in a browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
  2. Click the green Try an Assessment Now button

    Find and click this button on the Northstar webpage and follow the instructions noted here to log in as an FP&M employee
  3. Enter FP&M’s 4-digit location PIN: 68FN
    and click Go
  4. Take as many of the 15 assessments as you would like. Each one takes 10-15 minutes and will give you personalized practice based on your answers.  You can log in and continue to learn anytime!

AssetWorks Help Desk

WHEN: In person every Thursday, 9 – 11 a.m.; late night session once a month from 10 p.m. to midnight

WHAT: Support for AssetWorks and some basic computer and hardware troubleshooting.  NetID, password, and highly technical issues are forwarded to DoIT.
WHO: Any FP&M staff who use AssetWorks
HOW:  Just show up, no need to register!
