For the first time ever, FP&M gathered its supervisory team in-person Sept. 12, 2024, to connect as a leadership team, align with the strategic priorities that support UW–Madison and learn together about their roles as supervisors — especially in the areas of communication and customer service. As a division, accomplishments are a result of the hard work of all employees, and FP&M is committed to developing and supporting the leaders that guide those teams.

Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) Cindy Torstveit kicked off the session by highlighting accomplishments related to FP&M’s strategic priorities, providing perspective on the goals and constraints impacting our division and sharing ways that our leadership team is advocating for our needs. FP&M’s Chief Financial Officer Dawn Ness spent time reviewing more detail related to FP&M’s operating budget and the UW System-wide position cap that impacts the hiring process. The group was also visited by the Administrative Quality Satisfaction Survey (AQSS) team to review details of how FP&M services are perceived by campus customers. Time was also spent connecting and learning with other supervisors through guided conversations.

As the largest non-academic unit working 24/7 across multiple shifts, bringing this group together can be a challenge. However, it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the work of different areas within FP&M. Shout out to the supervisors who work 2nd- and 3rd- shift for joining to engage in the conversation!
