Airplane travel policy changes in the new year

There are several policy changes and reminders that employees should take into consideration if you have upcoming work-related travel planned:

REAL ID requirement starts May 7airplane in flight icon

  • FP&M travelers must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other acceptable form of identification to fly within the United States
  • Prepare to be compliant ahead of the policy, which starts on May 7, 2025.
  • Read more on the policy for acceptable forms of identification at the TSA Checkpoint.

Inclement Weather Procedures for En Route Flight Disruptions and Cancellations

  • Flight changes and cancellations must be made with the UW contract travel management companies.
  • However, if travel can be rebooked/accommodated at no cost, employees are allowed to work directly with the airline.
  • Read more about Policy 410: Purchase and Payment of Airfare.

Weather Waivers

As winter continues into the new year, airlines are more likely to have to cancel or delay flights due to winter weather.

  • If you have an upcoming flight that is at risk of being canceled and the airline has issued a waiver for the flight:  Fox World Travel will contact you to review alternative flight options in advance.
  • Do not contact the airline directly. This will result in Fox World Travel losing visibility to your reservation and any future flight schedule changes/cancellations.
