Jim Cuccia

I’d like to thank Jim Cuccia from the Steamfitters Shop for fixing our overhead slip door at the Lifesaving Station so promptly a few weeks ago (WO 25-333925). We noticed it was breaking on a Sunday night and Jim was down first thing Monday to repair it.

This corrected a significant safety issue and also kept our lake rescue operation in service. Thanks so much to Jim and to everyone else too who recognized our need for immediate assistance and made it happen! Many thanks!

Campus Services and Scott Hewitt

Training collaboration in Services is ramping up! Campus Services Lamp Replacement crew gave me their time and knowledge to collaborate on job skill training these past few months.

They made it easy for me to capture their campus experience and expertise into a relevant training, by being communicative, open, and trusting. A special high five to Scott Hewitt for the extra time spent reviewing content and being a co-facilitator with me. Thanks guys!

1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift Custodial; Jason, Nick, and Steve

Thank you 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift Custodial Managers, Sups, and Leads for the multiple hours you’ve gathered this year to share Floor Care knowledge across shifts and for giving up precious time to send some of your Floor Techs and aspiring Floor Techs to refresher training. Thank you for being open and attentive to training while juggling time to oversee floor care teams and quality control for the more than 17 million assignable square feet.

I feel a deep gratitude to Jason Wilder Lareau and Nick Schmidt for their enthusiasm sharing equipment, chemical, and technique knowledge, plus time given to collaborating with me to be ready to take on training roles. You two make fantastic co-facilitators and have authentic educator abilities – I’m so grateful we’re on a team together.

Avelene Adler and Anne Bauer

HUGE thanks to Anne Bauer and Avelene Adler for their ergonomic and interior design expertise. They helped create a healthier, safer work environment, providing kind consultations, helpful answers to questions, and detailed follow-up to ensure we have what we need. Thanks, Anne and Avelene; you two are the dream team! (And go to the Workplace Ergo Clinic if you have not yet, FP&Mers!)

Heather Wipperfurth & Mark Schreier

HUGE shout-out for Heather Wipperfurth and Mark Schreier! They have been exceptional in the work they have performed for our Educational Psychology Department and our facilities in Educational Sciences. I can give them a big picture overview and they figure out the details to make it work. Plus, they don’t say NO! Their work is done efficiently and correctly. I enjoy working with them. Kudos to them! Thanks for making our conference rooms more effective and fancy!

Brandon Hill, Campus Services

In October, staff from FPM were awarded the 2024 APPA Effective and Innovative Practices Award for UW-Madison’s innovative approach to addressing a global helium shortage. Campus Services would like to send a shout out to Brandon Hill for his dedication and support of this program.

Brandon is the primary person for the delivery of this Helium, and he does an excellent job of not only addressing the Scheduled Helium deliveries but also all last-minute requests that require Same Day Service. Thank you for all you do Brandon.
