Shout-out to the entire UW Waste & Recycling group for the great job you do removing the tremendous amount of material generated on campus. It’s a huge job, complicated by the variety of materials, and also complicated by cold weather. We appreciate what you do!

I wanted to share kudos on FP&M’s recent snow and ice removal 101 story. We featured it in the internal DoIT divisional newsletter. I really enjoyed reading about the process and the many things your office considers as you prepare and respond to snow and ice. Also, please share a major thank you to the FP&M staff who work so diligently to keep the campus safe. I’m sure it’s not an easy job and you all probably don’t hear thank you often enough. The work y’all do truly makes a difference!

HUGE thank you to the custodial team at Vilas Hall. This weather is challenging and you’re keeping the building as nice as it can be with enormous smiles on your faces! Thank you for your dedication, care and attention to our facility and thank you for being such wonderful people!

Cameron Radewan and Jesse Goplin

Thank you Cameron Radewan and Jesse Goplin for installing the Knox Boxes across campus that will be used by the Madison Fire Department for access to buildings. Your craftmanship and timeliness has been noticed from many building managers. Keep up the good work!

Sue Thalacker

I just want to let you know that you have a gem in Sue Thalacker! I called her randomly and somewhat hopelessly because her name was listed under “customer service” on the Transportation website and I was at a wall trying to figure out how to transport a group of people across campus affordably. I knew she was probably not the right person to call, but I was completely at a loss as to what to do. While she was the wrong person to call in the sense that my problem had nothing to do with her job, she was totally the RIGHT person to call because she took the time to listen to me, to brainstorm with me and to offer me solutions. She even steered me away from a date that would be impossibly busy on campus during the boys state basketball tournaments. Thank you, Sue! SO HELPFUL!

Thank you Jacqui, Lacey, and Margaret, for all your help with the pediatric surgery candidate while I was out. Way to go Jesse Luckey Winters, Chad Hinman, and all of the SMO and Physical Plant staff who helped Extension move into 3500 University Avenue in 8 short months from closing. They made it happen on a short schedule with a building that did not even start as a UW property with UW infrastructure.
