Shout out to Ben Weiler! Thank you for offering and making a trip, in the middle of your respirator fit testing schedule, to the EHS building to get a CAPR for a patient who was seen in Occupational Medicine. This lead to a cohesive patient care plan and a very satisfied patient. We appreciate you!!

Transportation 2nd shift Lot 75 crew

Shout out to Transportation 2nd shift Lot 75 crew on Friday, July 31st. Ray Cote, Peyton Agard, EK Klade, Shaddai Solidum, and Sara Harring-Spoerl. Thank you for spending a Friday night with me working through project traffic lane shifting and an elevator project process review for the next 3 weeks. All of your support is appreciated!

John Gausmann

Sending a shout-out to John Gausmann for his quick thinking and problem solving abilities. There were about 4 sets of deep strut wedged in together rendering them unusable. He could see that several UW employees were struggling to break them apart. He stepped in and figured out that by dropping them on the loading dock, they came apart easily. Thanks John!

Campus Services and Truck Services

A huge thank you to the exceptional crews from Campus Services: Scott Henderson, Craig Mlsna, Jim Edgington, Marty Scharrer, Nic Dorsey, Malik Mitchell, Drew Meredith, Mohammed El Hallaoui, Mohamed Outayeb, David Skuban, Tim McNeill, Steve Walls, and Misha Saranov; and Truck Services: Steve Lazewski and Todd Speth; for their outstanding support during the recent Global Infectious Disease Labs relocation.

Both teams relocated multiple specialized freezers across five labs with great skill, efficiency, and strict attention to safety. Despite the high-stakes move, their positive attitudes and seamless coordination made what could have been a stressful process an absolute pleasure.

Campus Services and Truck Services are a true asset to UW-Madison. I am deeply grateful for their continued partnership and hard work on this project and every relocation we collaborate on. Please join me in recognizing the following team members for their exceptional support.

Troy Ruland and Gabe Mendez

I am writing to shout-out Troy Ruland and Gabe Mendez in Transportation Services for their exceptional support during the recent occupant moves and cleanouts at Music Hall and Science Hall.

Coordinating parking lot access for dumpster and truck placement was critical to keeping everything running smoothly. Without their proactive support and flexibility, the project would have been far less efficient and taken significantly longer.

Troy and Gabe have been outstanding partners across past projects as well. Their prompt responses, helpful suggestions, and collaborative mindset make a huge difference during both planning and execution. Thank you, Troy and Gabe, for your partnership, reliability, and dedicated support. I look forward to working together on future projects.

A huge shout-out to the Physical Plant Waste & Recycling team for their exceptional support during the large-scale Science Hall and Music Hall cleanouts!

Planning was outstanding! By coordinating six dumpsters, keeping four on-site almost continuously, they ensured the move crew never faced downtime. This seamless coordination kept workflow moving efficiently and ahead of schedule.

Beyond logistics, their daily presence made a real difference. The crew greeted everyone with smiles and friendly hellos. Their positive attitudes, strong work ethic, and dedication were evident throughout. Please join me in a shoutout to the individuals who made this and other campus projects a success.

Shout-Out to Erin Ennis for her patience and tenacity while helping me complete the longest side quest ever. Even minor environmental regulatory concerns can be delicate situations. Erin’s skill and professional network were integral to our success in improving our campus’ environmental stewardship.

A huge shout-out to our incredible Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) teammate Ann Larson for her remarkable support during the recent lab cleanouts at Science Drive and Science Hall.

Ann is a true go-getter whose passion for EHS shines through in everything she does. Whether it’s planning and supporting complex logistics or stepping in to assist at a moment’s notice, her positive attitude and dedication make her an absolute joy to work with.
